DOB Violations Westchester County
Flotechs handles DOB violations throughout Westchester County. We understand that cities, towns, and villages may have their own set of plumbing regulations, and we are knowledgeable and equipped to handle their specifications. From White Plains building code violations to resolving New Rochelle DOB violations, our team understands the importance of detail.
It’s important to handle any violations notification immediately. A copy of the violation is entered into the DOB’s Building Information System (BIS). The violation notice stays in place until the issue is resolved and the proper paperwork is filed to document the repair. Failing to address the DOB violation means the building could lose its certificate of occupancy or you could end up in court being sued for damages caused by the violation. In addition, you could be blocked from selling or refinancing the property if violations remain on record.
What Are DOB Violations?
DOB violations and ECB violations include a number of factors in a home or business. Violations can include the illegal addition of a bathroom, failure to install smoke alarms, illegally added kitchen, or failing to maintain a proper backflow prevention device. If you purchased a home and are in the middle of renovations only to discover the original builder or homeowner made illegal changes or repairs, we can help.
Our professional plumbers will evaluate your problem and make the repairs needed to complete a DOB violations removal. Our team will perform the work needed to correct the violation and submit the DOB Certificate of Correction to have the violation removed.
The Department’s Administrative Enforcement Unit (AEU) reviews all Certificates of Correction and determines if the proper work has been completed. Once the Certificate of Correction is approved, the violation will appear as Resolved in BIS.
No matter your situation, Flotechs understands that a notice of a DOB violation can be time consuming and frustrating. To help avoid stopping any renovation projects or paying significant fines, call our team to handle your situation.

FAQs
Do I need to open the walls to show the plumbing/piping to the inspector?
In most cases no. But depending on the type of violation that is being corrected, the inspector holds the authority to request the plumbing to be exposed to confirm it was installed as per the state plumbing code.
What is the process to lift a (SWO) stop work order from my city?
Correct all violating conditions cited in the SWO.
The Department may require you certify correction to any outstanding OATH/ECB violations by submitting a Certificate of Correction to the Department’s Administrative Enforcement Unit.
Request a re-inspection from the Unit that issued the SWO to verify that all the violating conditions have been corrected and have the order rescinded.
Pay any applicable civil penalties.
How do I know whether or not I need a permit for home improvements?
Local municipalities issue building permits based on city ordinances. Since there are no federal or state standards, building codes vary from city to city. The only way to know if your city requires a permit for a remodeling job is to go to its website or call. If you hire a licensed contractor, he or she will know if the job requires a permit.
