FAQs
What type of boilers/systems are most efficient?
The most efficient boilers are on hot water systems and work on natural gas.
A hot water boiler modulates and produces only the BTU’s needed for the load its receiving.
Hot water natural gas boilers also come tankless, with options that include a combination boiler that produces you domestic water for showering.
Why do boilers make noise?
Most steam boilers are the culprits when we receive a call of noisy boiler.
This can be due to water sitting in a radiator, retune line or a bad steam trap and never allowing water to get back to the boiler, then the cold water meets the steam from the boiler when the system is called for heat, creating a loud banging noise. Hot water systems also can make banging noises due to high pressures in the system and failed expansion tanks.
How often should boilers be serviced?
Oil boilers do get clogged more often due to the soot oil creates.
Gas boilers still need to be serviced, even though gas burns much cleaner, these new gas boilers have a lot of safety devices, electrical components and filters that need to be maintained.
